Itinerary :

Day 1:

Arrive Fez

On the first day, you will arrive at Fes Airport, where the guide will wait for you. Then you will be taken to your Riad, which is located in the heart of the old Medina. The diner and breakfast are provided, so after night here, your journey around the imperial cities will begin.

Day 2:

Fes with a local guide

Seeing Fes as it is, you will have to spend at least a day or two in it. At 8 am, the morning will start with exploring ancient Fez Medina, Royal Palace, and a short drive through Mellah (the old Jewish quarter). Royal Palace is covered with high privacy so you will be able to admire it from the outside. Bab Boujloud gives some other impression of a bit of modern style. The day is long but there are many things to be seen. Fez El-Bali, the whole labyrinth of narrow streets with shops. Nejjarine and Sefarine squares, with fountains and the University of Al Quaraouiyine. Except for monuments, be sure to try some traditional Moroccan food, such as Tajine and Couscous. For the real surprise, we won’t tell you how it’s made.

Day 3:

Fes – Volubilis – Meknes

On the third day, the journey will continue in the direction of Meknes city. But before that, you will visit Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, dedicated to the founder of Fes in the 6th century. Volubilis ruins, left on the road from Fes to Meknes, witness the ruling of the Roman hand in this area. It represents an archaeological site that shows human traces even from Neolith. However, Roman civilization appeared here around the 40th year and made an important city for trading. It was home to olive oil and wheat production. It was several times destroyed by earthquakes or simply human hands, but it remained as the legacy and remainder. Volubilis has a truly long history which is worth researching. This is the moment when we approach another imperial city Meknes. It will offer you nothing less than the parts of its own history. Its own Royal palace, from the outside, Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, and huge gateway-Bab Mansour. You won’t know where to look. But that’s how the appearance of one imperial city should affect you! You can take a rest and enjoy a little bit more on Elhdim square, where you can find various entertainment. Makes will offer you a place for dinner, breakfast, and sleeping, too.

Day 4:

Meknes - Azrou - Merzouga

Early in the morning, we are taking a break from the greatness of the cities. We will boldly set our course to the desert and surroundings. In Middle Atlas Mountains, by Azrou you will see beautiful Cedar Forest. Here you will be welcomed in a bit different way. Not by humans, but by Barbary Monkeys! They are friendly and playful, and you will for sure have fun being around them. Auberge at Errachidia lunch will be waiting for us, but we won’t stay here for a long time. The immense desert and its landscapes are expecting us! Therefore, towards the Ziz Valley and its gorges, and to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Arrival time should be at 5 pm, just in time to start the trip around the hot Sahara. Saddle up your camel for a long journey toward the encampment in the heart of the desert. You will be introduced to unreal views and friendly people. Don’t refuse to drink a cup of traditional mint tea with them, and you could get closer to their culture. By waiting for the sunset in this place you will know it would be a pity to spend this moment somewhere else. And with other people. Berber culture is unique and they will gladly represent your music and crafts. Maybe right before dinner, under the clear sky, so you can go to bed in that special mood!

Day 5:

Merzouga - Erfoud - Ouarzazate

Waking up at 5 am won’t be a problem in a place like this! You can take your slide that is available in the camp if you want to have an experience of Sand Boarding. After that, you can have breakfast and a hot shower. Roaming through the desert for a day may leave some special effects on you. Erfoud city would after that look like a hard sculpture created from dense and stoned sand! Here you will even see the Fossil excavation and tireless work of paleontologists and archaeologists. This place is like true work of art made simply from the gifts of dessert! Something different waits in the west. Todra Gorge in Dades Valley will add a majestic description to this day. And then everything will be smoothed by the lovely Country of Roses. Overnight in Ouarzazate Kasbah with dinner and breakfast.

Day 6:

Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech

Being a town of movies and commercials, Ourzazate simply won’t hold back in showing you the secrets of Atlas Studios. It will as well offer a good rest in the shadows of Taourirt Kasbah, the residential palace of the Galoui family. Driving directly to Marrakech, through High Atlas Mountains, you can stop several times just to make some picture and take it as a souvenir! Everyone here understands that the art of nature can not be ignored just like that. You will be, also, able to pay tribute to Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou and Pacha Glaoui Telouet Kasbah, before getting to Marrakech.

Day 7:

Marrakech

Palace of the Bahia just waits to first win your attention. There where everything is challenging, you will know that you are in Marrakech. This will be the last imperial city to visit on this trip. Inside of big red walls, you can see Saadian Tombs, resting in some mystic shadows. Another thing, to see after lunch, will be Jemaa el-Fna, the old city. It’s impossible not to enjoy these big pieces of some big art. What kinds of things can be made just by the joined hands of its people? In the end, Koutoubia Mosque will take your breath even remained a little bit hidden under its veil.
