Merzouga Activities

You will explore the small villages around the dunes of Erg Chebbi, Merzouga, and Khamlia. They are treated to a cup of tea while enjoying their spiritual Gnawa music. Leaving Khamlia, our next stop is a panoramic view of the golden sand dunes near the Algerian border. We can visit a nomadic family living under a Berber tent, tending to herds of cattle, goats, and camels. Gift it to your family and learn about their lifestyle while enjoying the taste of a good cup of tea. If you continue on, you will reach the panorama where you will be amazed by the view of the dunes. Return to the riad for lunch and relaxation. Sandboarding is a tabletop sport similar to snowboarding. This is a recreational activity that takes place on sand dunes rather than snowy mountains. This skateboarding sport has enthusiasts all over the world, more often in desert areas or coastal areas with dunes on the beach. It involves riding through or down sand dunes while strapping your feet to the board, although some sand boards use unsecured boards. It's less popular than snowboarding, in part because it's difficult to build mechanized ski lifts on top of the dunes, so participants often have to walk back to the top. The Merzouga Sunset Tour starts around 17:30, depending on the time of year. It takes about half an hour to ride a camel to reach the Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes. We then leave the camels at about 80 meters to reach the highest sand dunes in Merzouga. For those who want to see the panorama, it takes 10 minutes to climb to the top of the mountain. If you don't want to climb the tallest dunes, the area around the camel "parking lot" is great for watching the sunset. After enjoying this short time, we drove back to the village. Buggy and quad bikes are very popular around the dunes of Merzouga. We invite you to join our Merzouga adventure tour on a quad bike and buggy for a magical experience. You'll have a lot of fun in the dunes, as you can also go camping on a quad bike in Merzouga. The best way to reach the Merzouga desert is to hire a guide and/or a local driver who can expertly navigate the terrain and will most likely take you to areas along the eastern Algerian border.
